H₂OLD^® Products

Strategy and Design Solutions is proud to have delivered a new and rewritten version of the H₂OLD^® products website. These products are designed for blending with non-coated fertilizers, aiding in water conservation, and for enabling the controlled release of Nitrogen and/or Potassium, while significantly enhancing plant growth. SDS moved existing and created new content into a Joomla 1.6 environment to:

• increase maintainability of the content
• Improve Search Engine Optimization

Quality Management System

Created a mangement system for a international minning company to comply with ISO 9000 standards and SOX compliance.  System included both internal authoring, approval management workflow, multi lingual presentation of data, and visual data maps.

Smart Phone Information Research

 A client had an interest in being able to discuss with colleagues the differences to consider when purchasing a smart phone. Because the groups of colleagues, though highly skilled in their particular practices, are overwhelmed by the information and choices presented when choosing a cell phone, and even more challenged to determine which smart phone would meet their specific user needs. SDS surveyed current smart phone information for hardware and software capability, service provider cost and terms and feature comparison. This information was assembled into an easy to understand presentation format that is expected to be both informative and entertaining to receive.

User and System Text Writing and Usability Survey

A client had developed a Drupal Survey Product that permits custom and novel surveys, like 360 assessment survey to be custom created and delivered to participants. The developer was not a native English speaker, though the target market is expected to be primarily English speakers. Based on a thorough product walk-through and developer notes, SDS produced detailed system documentation and help text to guide users in the use of the product.

Proposal and Grant Writing

Having had years of experience in preparing complex solution proposals, SDS, already registered to serve as a government contractor, formed solicitation response teams to earn work and to create new jobs for our faltering economy in the spring of 2009.· In 75 days the team responded to 21 solicitations, 2 grants and 12 requests for quotes.

The challenges of meeting all of the FAR regulations, holding all the correct certifications and a drive to succeed helped the team to have a 100% record for technical responsiveness.

The Story of HOPE

The HOPE or Hospital Optimization Performance Engine offers customized Operating Room reports providing users the data required to make informed operating room management decisions. It was also SDS’s first incubation product project. Though product information is available on our  Solutions pages, this is a story about how SDS put our Product Incubation services to work to bring a prototype idea to product-ready stage in about 8 weeks.

The process began with a market viability assessment. This assessment revealed some interesting facts, like hospitals are dependant by design on IT personnel, either on staff or consultants, to prepare queries and reports from hospital IT systems. We also learned that many hospital IT systems do not give much attention to the needs of the hospital for reporting of the information in those systems. This is a problem. With the thorough insights that the study produced, the team next considered the technical feasibility of the solution. After studying the prototype produced by the innovator, the team prepared a blueprint for a redesigned product and several iterations of additional feature development that could be created in the future. Based on this work, and through the use of mind maps and use-cases, a set of requirements was produced and a system design was created. The code once written delivered a error free installation and executable application. While the code was being written, the marketing and sales teams got into action, preparing a marketing strategy and plan, producing marketing collateral, and mapping out a multi stage sales campaign. SDS created Strategic Healthcare Systems, a company dedicated to products and solutions created by SDS and strategic partners, to give HOPE a product home where customers could obtain information and support for their Healthcare reporting needs. At present the team is happy to have made progress with an alpha customer and looks forward to the continued evolution of an immediately useful, time- and cost-saving tool for hospital reporting.
